The Birchwood prefix was first registered with the RPSB in the early 80's by my mother, Doris Roberts. Since then few foals have been bred. Our real focus was to produce ridden horses as I grew up, so breeding was very limited.
I have decided to continue the prefix on for our own stud. We are in the process of putting together a very small and very select band of mares that we will breed with.
We have been very lucky to have acquired some beautiful mares to date that we are very excited about. With the blood lines of famous UK lines, we are looking forward to the future youngsters at Birchwood. The blood lines they carry are some of the most famous and renowned amongst riding pony breeding, Keston Royal Occasion, Twylands Troubadour, Rosslyn Sandalwood, Solway North Wind to name a few.
Our aim and desire is to breed just a few foals a year that are true to type, are of oustanding quality and have temperaments to match. It is important to us to breed temperaments that are pliable and easy to work with in hand and eventually under saddle.
